CANNAGARS- WHAT THEY ARE? & HOW TO ROLL THEM!

A cannagar is a cigar that is made completely with cannabis. It is made by compressing the seeds around a skewer and then rolling it with cannabis fan leaves. Compressing the cannabis around the skewer creates a slow-burning and full-flavored roll that lasts longer. This type of compressed roll was originally called “Thai Stick”, and the term Cannagar was created to imply a Thai Stick rolled in fan leaves. Thai Sticks originated in Thailand in the 70s. Thai Sticks were usually made by tying cannabis flowers to bamboo skewers, covering them in opium and using the cannabis fan leaves to bind it together, and then letting it cure for months. This used to result in rougher looking Cannagars. In recent times, the trend of Cannagar use has been back as it gives you an uplifted smoking experience it creates. As the cannabis is very well compressed, Cannagars can burn for hours while still giving you a smooth hit and easy draw because of the hole left by the skewer. It is believed that the Thai Sticks first entered the US through seamen, who wanted to share the joy of it with friends at home.

There are two different methods to make a cannagar- the easy way and the hard way. The easy method allows you to smoke you Thai Stick as a cigar. The hard way uses the same method that is used to make Thai Sticks. You have to break off chunks and then load them into a pipe to smoke. You would need two toothpicks and then skewer large, dense and sticky cannabis buds together to form the shape of your cigar. You need to wrap hemp twine around the buds to keep them in place as you go along using the skewers to stack the buds on top of each other.

For making a cannagar, you would need to begin with about 12 grams cannabis flower and 3 grams of hash oil to stuff in it (it is preferable to use a syringe for applying the hash oil). You would also need a grinder to grind your marijuana seeds; cannagar mold; and toothpicks for skewing. You would also need a packing tool. You can choose to use any narrow object with a round or flat end to pack the cannabis into the mold (or you can simply use your fingers to pack). Apart from all the cannabis products, you would also need a small wooden stick and hemp twine. The consumption of your ingredients becomes easier because of the wooden stick, but you should take the wooden stick out before smoking it. The hole that would be created will help keep the smoke and air flowing as you take a drag. Without the hole, the cannagar would be vulnerable to clogging from resin build up. And if you roll it too tightly, it will not hit.

You can also make mini cigar (called cannagarillo) with an eighth of cannabis, half gram of any cannabis concentrates, and marijuana leaves.
