Where Is The Most Cannabis Grown Each Year.

With so many other countries trying to get a piece of the pie for Cannabis you’ll  be surprised to find out that the United States isn’t number one. Maybe when cannabis is Legalized on the Federal level we’ll truly see a spike in cannabis production catapulting us to the number spot. But until then our regulations keeps our production low. With new consumption laws and more States legalizing cannabis recreationally we’re seeing our consumption hit new highs. People getting new highs and discovering new ways to consume cannabis. For todays discussion we’ll be talking about some of the biggest cannabis producing countries in the world.

Major Cannabis Producing Countries

Before we start our discussion on major cannabis producing countries I first want to clarify that I’m including the production of private and government cultivations. Although some countries themselves don’t produce cannabis other countries do for research. 

Morocco

Morocco is the world’s biggest maker of cannabis. Cannabis has been cultivated in Morocco for hundreds of years. In the mid 2000s 70 percent of hash consumed in Europe was created in Morocco. Cannabis has been illegal in Morocco since the nation’s independence in 1956. But since 2021  Morocco has voted to legalize cannabis for  medicinal and cosmetic purposes. The recognition that cannabis makes up a huge wellspring of the economy has prompted debate for legalizing cannabis in Morocco.

Colombia

Colombia stood in fifth place as one of the biggest cannabis producers on the planet. Cannabis cultivation has been followed in Colombia since the late colonial period.  When hemp was developed for industrial strands. In 2012, the Colombian government officially decriminalized the possession of up to 20 grams of cannabis almost a Oz. Three years later the Colombian Supreme Court decided that cultivation of up to 20 cannabis plants was permitted in the country. While cannabis is illegal in Colombia for public consumption and business deals, it has been legalized for clinical use in 2015 and guidelines have been set up for dispensaries.

Canada

Canada stood in eighth position among the world’s biggest cannabis producing nations. In Canada it’s legal for both recreational and medicinal purposes.

Medicinal utilization of cannabis was legalized in Canada in July 2001. In 2018 Canada turned into the second country on the planet after Uruguay to formally legalize the cultivation, possession, acquisition and consumption of cannabis and its by-products.

Most provinces in Canada have online-deals and storefront operations selling cannabis. Home to many of the biggest cannabis organizations on the planet we can see it’s here to stay.

India

India is the 10th biggest cannabis producing country on the planet. Cannabis has been utilized in India dating back into the BC era. Common expressions for cannabis preparations in India include charas (resin), ganja (bloom), and bhang (seeds and leaves).

Indian cannabis-infused drinks for example are bhang lassi which is a yogurt-based drink with grounded up cannabis leaves and bhang thandai a which is a THC milkshake are common and legal utilizations in the country. Although Bhang Thandai is mainly used on Holi.

Nigeria

Nigeria is positioned ninth among the world’s cannabis producing nations and furthermore positions among the top ten consumers of cannabis on the planet. The nation is a significant wellspring of West African-developed cannabis, but cannabis in Nigeria is illegal.

Cannabis is a generally utilized illegal drug in Nigeria, while it has no strict or clinical use in the country. The possession of cannabis is illegal and can get you a minimum sentence of 12 years in prison.

Obviously these numbers could change when Canada legalizes recreational pot. We could see our neighbors north of the line increasing their yields by a significant sum. Also, the UN didn’t report how much pot was created in every country, so these are just estimates based on their report as well as opinions of different experts.
